Bell's Neck Ecology Field Classes

Discovering Nature's Connections

Throughout our lifetimes, whether we’re hiking, birding or simply exploring, we hear that everything in nature is connected in one way or another. Join experienced Field Naturalist Peter Trull on a hike through the woodlands and wetlands of Bell’s Neck Conservation Lands to learn about the interwoven lives of the plants and animals that live here. From geology to botany, decomposers to mammals, birds to insects: each organism is dependent and critical to the survival of others.

Do trees communicate with birds? Does the percolation of rain make you fall down? Do trees wait for fire? Why does moss grow on the north side of a tree? (Hint: it’s planetary.)

This 2-hr field class will discuss the wonders of nature, focusing on natural selection and survival, with some identification tips.
