Chartered Seabird Expedition
Please join Harwich Conservation Trust for an incredible and unique opportunity to explore the waters around Morris Island and Monomoy Island on a Chartered Seabird Expedition with Peter Trull. Departing from Saquatucket Harbor, journey into Nantucket Sound, near Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge in search of oceanic birds.
In late summer, this special corner of the ocean is teeming with life. Witness a variety of species, with possible sightings of the manx, great, sooty, and the larger cory’s shearwaters, jaegers, plus terns and gulls such as the rare roseate tern and the exceptionally rare Sabine’s gull.
Naturalist and author Peter Trull and Captain Damon Burdon welcome birders, nature enthusiasts, and photographers to participate in this five-hour experience.
Peter has been involved in wildlife research and education for over 45 years and has thousands of offshore hours under his belt. He holds a Master’s Degree in Education and has written nine books about Cape Cod natural history. His most recent book, Birds of Paradox-The Life of Terns, was released in spring 2019. His upcoming book, Cape Cod – Once Around the Sun, is a tribute to John Hay and his 1961 classic, Nature’s Year.
This seabird trip is $150 per person.
